We're nearly at the end of the part that comes before the beginning. One more yard sale is planned (June 23rd), six more suitcases need to be packed (plus our own 4 pieces of luggage), and then there's our team commissioning service at Bridletowne on June 24th. Then we'll be done with "before" and get on with the "during". It's pretty exciting!!
One of the ways we have seen God confirm that this is something he wants us to do is through all the support we have received. He has provided unexpected amounts from unexpected sources. So many wonderful people have been generous in their giving. In addition to financial gifts, people have donated items to our garage sales, or handed over a useful piece of luggage for us to use, or raised money of their own through coin drives or car washes! We are travelling with donated sports equipment & uniforms, medical supplies, and clothing. Thank-you everyone!
We have been especially blessed by those who have prayed with us on a weekly basis. Our prayer team has been faithful and passionate! This week we were so exhausted or distracted or both that we actually forgot our own prayer meeting. Sadly this is not the first time!! I suppose we officially have to add 'gracious' and 'patient' to our list of prayer team adjectives! Oh boy!
Maybe you're still considering joining our support team. There's still room to squeeze on the bus!

Also, as we approach our goal for financial support, we want to highlight that monetary gifts can still be put to good use. I recently asked our friend Stalin in Ekwendeni about how they could use $1,000 CDN to help HIV Orphans in their region of the country. He told me this amount would cover tuition, uniforms, & school supplies to enable thirty (as in three-zero!!) children to go to school for one year.
He went on to say, “If you educate a child in Malawi, you educate many. Because of the extended families we have, the child will help many in the family. Education is a key for their future.”
The team at the Ekwendeni Hospital is second to none. The hospital itself has over a 100 year history of service. Entrusting financial gifts to their stewardship can be done with the highest level of confidence. Why not help us exceed our financial target so that orphans in Malawi can access life-changing education?
